     Meet Dr. Gary

Dr. Gary will tell anyone that he believes he has one of the most rewarding occupations. He gets to see patients transform their health and lives to become a better version of themselves.

Dr. Gary Petro is the founder of Good Medicine Functional Medicine in Whitefish, MT. For over 35 years, Dr. Gary has been helping patients just like you break free from recurring symptoms and rebuild their health and has personally helped over 9000 patients.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Petro has developed a Health Restoration Program that looks at defining why an individual’s health is not functioning properly, and how to guide patients who are ready to solve their health issues. This begins with an in-depth history and consultation, coupled with specific science-based testing. Once he has a clear picture of the limitations, a plan is developed to up-regulate the suppressed systems which can then help lead to regaining optimum health. He is particularly skilled and experienced at finding the root metabolic, hormonal, and biochemical causes leading to dysfunctional health and poor quality of life.

He is a fervent reader of current research, and a learner always trying to find new ways of treating difficult conditions. His approachable style and thorough approach continue to make patients comfortable and confident under his care.

Dr. Petro has studied under many of the leaders in Functional Medicine and Functional Neurology with a focus on revolutionary microbiome and genetic testing, not looking at what specific diseases a person might acquire but rather what are the genetic variations that can be limiting optimal health.

He is a member of the International College of Generative Medicine and the Institute of Functional Medicine. Additionally, he has concentrated focus in:

  • Learning Disabilities
  • Anti-aging Healthcare
  • Neurochemistry of Male and Female Hormone Problems
  • Generative Medicine
  • Orthopedics
  • Functional Neurology
  • Nutrition and Nutrigenomics

More than anything, his compassion is displayed with people who are frustrated because of having been under treatment programs without appreciable change.

Dr. Gary now resides in Montana with his wife, Mary Claire, after being in Ohio for over three decades where he directed one of the leading Functional Medicine clinics in Ohio, partnering with a wide range of specialists. With many of his patients living in locations across the country as well as internationally, he decided to follow his dream to live close to the mountains. Dr. Gary is an avid skier, cyclist, and lover of the outdoors, and Montana has a lot to offer, which allows him and Mary Claire to enjoy this new chapter of their life.
